Good news folks!

It's been a while since the last official news update so we kind of owe you all a big one. And we are currently well underway with the revival of Project ION's public presence. The lack of news posts was mostly due to a lack of time. In hindsight we could have just posted the release notes here as well as on the forum announcements.

Despite this hiatus, a lot of cool things have been accomplished technically and things have been running solid as a rock most of the time. Or in other words: the framework upon which the world of ION is built has matured significantly! So, for those of you who haven't logged in for a while, here's a quick re-cap:

  • The engine was upgraded from Unity 4 to 5. A painstaking process of discovering quite a lot of issues with the engine which were already reported to Unity, yet still remain unresolved.
  • With the new engine in place and only small issues to fix it was time to venture more into the new (post-)effects and improving usability.
  • We fixed issues with the website/email and quite some effort was spent again on visuals and fun additions. Most notably heavy weaponry, repairs for tools and a new city in the SE quadrant.
  • Without any major issues it was easy to save up all minor issues and dedicate a release to fixes right before a well deserved vacation.
  • With renewed energy a lot of requested features and some fixes were tucked into version 1.0.5, along with global help read.write access for anyone with sufficient Sanity or Tenacity. And a bonus skill multiplier option for system events.

And there we have it! All leading up to our most recent release, which really takes the cake in respect to more delightful visuals. The fresh release notes were announced on the forum and, for those of you who hadn't noticed yet, we're happy to announce that we've finally opened up our Discord server to the public.

So, if you have any questions, suggestions or even complaints worth discussing, hit us up over there and perhaps we'll pick it up in a future release. Cheers!
